Final task

I found the movies called Inherit the wind. It is from years 1960 and 1965 and I think that they perfectly represent the book, because I understood everything and the scenes were exactly to the book. I like the movies more than the book, because it’s easier to follow what’s going on.
Both movies were nominated for some awards (BAFTA, Golden Globes), which means that they are both good, but I prefer the first one. It is more realistic and the actors are more persuasive than in the second movie.
There were even more movies which were inspired by this book, because it is favorite topic of American history.

In this book is the main character the teacher, but the final fight is between the layers so the main characters are
Mr. Henry Drummond and Mr. Mathew Brady.
Henry Drummond is a good guy, and he believes in freedom of speech and that’s why he arrived to the city of Hillsboro, because he thinks that freedom of speech is important.
Matthew Brady is a guy, who was trying to be a president for three times, but he failed each time. He came to the city to sue him. I think that he did it because he want to show the people how the respecting the laws is important.

The authors Jerome Lawrence and Robert Edwin Lee wrote this book, because they wanted to show, how the freedom of speech is important. They didn’t want to say that religion is bad, they didn’t want to make angry some believers in god, but they were smart and they knew that the believing in god is not everything.

The major theme now is, that the teacher was teaching the kids the theory of evolution, but it was forbidden in that time, because they have teach everybody that human was created by god. That’s why the layers are fighting against each other, because that’s the biggest affair in history ever.

The most important event what recently happed is that the teacher Bert Cates was teaching the kind the theory of evolution and he was arrested for that. That’s why the two layers arrived to the city.

Well, in my play appeared new characters. That characters which appeared before aren’t so important. The most important character in Mr. Bert Cates who is high school teacher, then Henry Drummond who is layer and he is on the side of the teacher, and Mathew Brady who is against them.

This book is in time period around year 1925 in USA and at the start of the book is written: Not too long ago, so I think that it is said well, because it happed almost over eighty years ago.

And about the place, it is in the city of Hillsboro and it will be mostly in the courthouse where will be the main debate.

After next several pages, I still don’t know about Howard and Rachel, but there is one main fact, that some know presidential candidate Matthew Harrison Brady came to the city to, let´s say, punish the teacher for his gall. He meets with the Mayor of the city and they are saying they are proud to have the man like him in their city. I hope that some will come for to defend the teacher.

In this book, after few pages, I can´t really know how the character will behave, I don’t know if they are on the good or the bad side, because everyone has his own truth.  The first main characters are Melinda and Howard and they are just hanging around the Hillsboro courthouse and talking about weather. Then appear Rachel with Mr. Meeker. The book says that Rachel is pretty, but not beautiful and she doesn’t want to Howard to notice her, but he did. It starts to be interesting why she is so weird and don’t want to say hi to Howard.

I choose a book called Inherit the wind, and as I said before, it is written by Jerome Lawrence and Robert Edwin lee in year 1955 and it is inspired by real event which happened in year 1925 known as a Scopes trial, where the teacher John Thomas Scopes was teaching the theory of evolution, but it was against the Butler Act, a law which forbid teaching the theory of evolution because they thought that mankind was created by a god.
